Memoirs of the Pharaohs

Jenny thought about what Sally said that she felt the connection with Sekhmet as a loss... maybe that was what felt so wrong about it. Maybe it's not the lost body part but the won, the one she has extra.  Suddenly she thought she felt Sekhmet even clearer and not just becasue she saw her daughter of a chariot next to them appear, widely grinning and waving her hand. She had to find a moment to talk with their daughter about her powers.

"I'm sure we come up with a plan to defend the city."

Sallyy grinned seeing Sekhmet, her daughter, waving at her, and she waved back happily. She knew they'd be able to take her home. The just had to be!

"Well that Khan said he had a plan so he better deliver. I can't see him though," said Sally

Sekhmet didn’t stop waving at her moms. Jenny laughed, their daughter was a bit silly but then she was just five.

“He better has a plan because of him we are here. Why do you think the raiders are attacking the cities?”

"She's so cute," cooed Sally, before Jenny's question brought her back to reality, such as it was. "I think the Khan is right. Someone is trying to stir up tensions between the different nations."

"You know what? I can't wait to teach Sekhmet the possiblities of her powers. To see her grow." Jenny felt a warmth spread through her body when she heard Sally say their daughter is cute, a warmth that had nothing to do with her powers.

"Sounds like a lot of effort for no big end result." They reached the gate of the city. "But I'm not complaining make me hit some bad guys with some fire. Always fun."

"I'm sure you'll have a lot to teach her," smiled Sally as she imagined the scene. "And... that depends on the world. For all we know it could start a war.@

“And while I teach her how to throw fire balls you make us lemonade.” Jenny giggled but it faded.
“If it does cause a war I hope we are gone before it starts.”

"So... does that mean when I teach her techy things you'll be cooking on the BBQ?" joked Sally. "And.. it shouldn't come to that. We're hear to stop it!"

"That is pretty much all I can cook." Jenny laughed, she stopped the chariot behind the other and looked around for the Great Kahn. "True."

Sehmet jumped on the chariot. "Mommy did you see me on the chariot? I told the big men what to do just like Mama said. Oh what happened here?" The girl point at the scorch marks the fire had left behind.

"I'm sure it tastes great!" said Sally. She jogged over to Sekhmet to sweep her up in a hug. "We saw you sweetie. You looked really grown up. And..er.. don;t worry about the chariot. Mama was just experimenting with her fire."

Sekhment's eyes shone with excitment . "Can I experiment with my fire?"

Jenny laughed as she went over to the Great Kahn. "So we are here what is the plan?"

"Not right now. The Khan might get mad if you do!" said Sally. "But once we have some free time, sure!"

"We need to prepare the town for an attack, but make sure it doesn't look obvious," said the Khan.

"Oookay." Sekhmet was touching Sally's hair. "I love you Mommy!"

"So were do you want us stationed?"

Sally made a happy exclamation and hugged Sekhmet tightly, then patted her head. "I love you too sweetie."

"The three of us can remain hidden in that watchtower. That was we have a clear view. Your soldiers will need disguises, to appear as locals or visiting merchants," said the Great Khan

"It will be the four of us, I told you Sekhmet is not leaving Sally's or my side." Jenny looked at the watch tower. "The soldiers will know what to do."

"Are you sure about that. The child would be safer in the barracks. It would be more secure," said the Great Khan.

"Sure she can stay there if you want either Sally or I are there too. No one will watch her more than her mothers. So if you want our help you accept that she is there too." Jenny was scared that they would get send back but because of Sekhmet not being with them they would lose her. She looked at the Great Kahn and suddenly understood why her dad would have ran with her all thoe years ago. Those past months even without her memory she learnt that Mark would have died for her... a suddenly blinding pain shot through her head. She remember how Mark pushed her in front of the bus... or did he? Jenny closed her eyes for a second and held herself steady by holding on to the front of a chariot. "Sekhmet is going nowhere or we go home!" She pushed threw her teeth.

"I was merely offering advice, not giving orders," said the Great Khan. "I am a father myself, I know how string the bond can be between parent and child. But sometimes they are safer away from you. But, if you insist on having her nearby, I will not stop you."

"I do insist." Jenny mumbled, she turned around and went to Sally and Sekhmet. "Hey Kiddo, you come with me and Mommy. We are going to be in that tower up there wait for the bad guys to show their faces and we can burn them to a crisp, okay?" Jenny was speaking slowly trying to make her brain stop thinking and at the same time had a smile plaster on her face that just looked a little off. She avoided looking at Sally she didn't want her to worry which the other girl would, for no reason. Once the memories stopped swirling and her brain stop trying to find the lost once she would be fine.

"YAY! We're gonna be heroes Mama!" cheered Sekhmet, causing Sally to have an odd look on her face. She looked up at Jenny, and immediately her expression was changed to one of worry. But with Sekhmet right there, she didn't say anything.

"No just good queens, that's what queens have to do protect their subjects." Jenny mumbled, she kissed Sally on the cheek. "Stop worrying, I'm fine, just a headache. Told you about those." She said just for Sally's ears.

"Come on lets go up the tower and have a look what we can see. And Sekhmet? To catch the bad guys we got to be quiet. Otherwise they hear us." Jenny smiled flatly at Sekhmet, the girl was to young to see that something was up but Jenny felt Sally's eyes on her.

"Can't Queens be heroes too? I wanna be a hero," said Sekhmet wide eyed.

Sally slipped her arm around Jenny and kissed her cheek. "I... hope it passes soon," she whispered back, putting on a brave face for Sekhmet.

"I'll be as quiet as a mouse," piped up Sekhmet, still grinning.

"True queens can be heroes but it is a little different as a queen it is your job to protect your people." Jenny sighed and put her head on Sally's shoulder. "It will it's just slower, since you were right my brain can heal but not the functions it it..." She whispered for Sally.

"You are a good girl Sekhmet. Come on lets get up this tower. I wanna get an overview of the area and I wanna find out how much you can do Sekhmet. And it will distract me from my head." Jenny took Sekhmet's and Sally's hand to go up the watchtower.

"It sounds like being a Queen is too much work!" said Sekhmet. "It should be much more fun!"

"I wish I had been wrong about that," said Sally. "Which is a first!"

"I can;t wait to show you Mama!" grinned Sekhmet. "But what's wrong with your head?" she asked.

"Being a queen is important, but it can be fun." Jenny grinned as they climbed the stairs.

"This is nothing when Dirk's mother-in-law tried to find my memories it was a lot worse. I just have a headache Sekhmet a silly annoying headache."

The Great Kahn had let them up the watchtower. "This gives us a nice advantage we can see quite far."
